Terms of Use
Effective date: [launch date]
Textbound is licensed to you under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms add a few things specific to Textbound. If they conflict, these terms apply to the extent the law allows.
1. Who can use Textbound
- You must be 18 or older and in the United States.
- One account per person. Don't use Textbound for anyone else, or let a minor use your device to access it.
2. It's fiction, written by AI
- Vantar and every other character are fictional, and their messages are generated by artificial intelligence. They aren't people and don't speak for us.
- AI can be wrong or unexpected. Don't rely on a character for advice about health, money, legal matters or safety.
- Textbound isn't therapy or a crisis service. If you need help, see the resources on our Safety page.
3. How you'll use it
Please don't:
- try to make characters produce sexual content, content involving minors, or content that promotes self-harm or violence against real people;
- use Textbound to harass, threaten or impersonate anyone;
- scrape, reverse-engineer, overload or resell the service;
- share account access or work around the age check.
We may pause or close an account that breaks these rules or that we believe belongs to a minor.
4. Your messages
- You keep whatever rights you have in what you write. You let us use it to run your story, keep it safe, and improve Textbound, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- The story, characters, art and app are ours. Your conversations are for your personal, non-commercial enjoyment.
5. Subscriptions
- Textbound is free to start. The full story requires a subscription bought through the App Store. Prices and any free trial are shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancel in iPhone Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
6. Changes and availability
Stories, characters and features may change. A season may end; that's how stories work. We'll tell you in the app about material changes to these terms.
7. Disclaimers and limits
Textbound is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. [Governing law, venue, and any arbitration clause: pending lawyer review.]
